VIDEO: joins BusinessGreen editor James Murray to discuss the carbon bubble, divestment and net zero investing

Mark Campanale is the founder of the hugely influential think tank Carbon Tracker, a non-profit organisation he helped set up over a decade ago to research and raise awareness of the impact of climate change on financial markets.

A pioneer of the sustainable investing movement, Campanale is a forthright and increasingly influential advocate for the 'carbon bubble' hypothesis, which contends that the global economy is headed for disaster unless companies align their businesses with the climate goals of the Paris Agreement.

In a wide-ranging chat with BusinessGreen editor-in-chief James Murray, Campanale explains the carbon bubble theory and what it means for financial markets and fossil fuel companies in particular, as well as how he and his colleagues originally developed the theory and came to set up Carbon Tracker in the first place over a decade ago. The conversation can be watched in full above.

You can find out more about the net zero investment movement and the trends redefining the finance community at the upcoming Net Zero Finance event, as part of this year's Net Zero Festival.
