WATCH: Top experts reflect on expected changes to the UK and EU's Emissions Trading Schemes and the possible impact of CBAMs on carbon markets - in BusinessGreen's latest Spotlight webinar
In December 2025, BusinessGreen brought together several top experts to explore recent reforms to the EU and UK Emissions Trading Scheme (ETS) and the development of new carbon credit schemes across the aviation and shipping sectors.
Hosted in association with Patch as part of BusinessGreen's Spotlight webinar series, the interactive event saw panellists discuss the likely impact of these reforms on carbon markets and carbon credit developers, as well as how the changes could affect corporate net zero strategies.
Other issues discussed included the potential impact of Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanisms (CBAMs) on global trade and whether the nascent carbon removal sector - including both nature-based and engineered removals - may be affected by any proposed changes ahead.
Hosted by BusinessGreen's editor in chief James Murray, the webinar featured top insights from:
- Ben Field, climate strategy manager at Patch
- Lorna Ritchie, director of public affairs at the Integrity Council for the Voluntary Carbon Market (ICVCM)
- Lydia Sheldrake, director of policy and partnerships at the Voluntary Carbon Markets Integrity Initiative (VCMI)
