Stroom Energy

Small-scale hydropower is a clean and stable source of renewable electricity with limited impact on its environment. On a global scale it is widely underused because of a lack of awareness and accurate data on suitable locations.

Stroom Energy will leverage decreasing costs of satellite imagery and geospatial datasets to automatically detect those locations where small-scale hydropower schemes are both technically and commercially feasible.

For landowners, Stroom will identify all the opportunities for hydropower generation and match them with the most suitable technologies.

For technology suppliers, Stroom will provide large volumes of sales leads, tailored to each specific hydropower design.

The innovation is in applying geospatial analysis techniques on a large scale for the small scale hydropower market. This industry today typically works on a manual and project-by-project basis that is unique for each site.

Stroom will bring automation and standardisation by leveraging geospatial insights and remote sensing analytics in a smart way. Looking at parameters such as elevation, water flow, distance to infrastructure, land cover, land ownership, etc., we can remotely assess the profitability of a scheme and its likelihood to get the right permits.
