One week left to secure Early Bird rate for next month's BusinessGreen Leaders Briefing, featuring the CCC's Chris Stark and senior executives from EV100, Tesco, Shell, and Gnewt Cargo

The speaker line-up for BusinessGreen's inaugural Towards Net Zero conference is nearly finalised, with keynote speaker Chris Stark of the Committee on Climate Change (CCC) set to give an exclusive set-piece speech on the transition to a net zero emission economy ahead of the Committee's crucial upcoming report to government on the topic.

Stark will close the latest BusinessGreen Leaders Briefing - entitled Towards Net Zero Transport - with an update on the debate over whether the UK should set a net zero emission goal and an insight into the CCC's work to date following the government's instruction to review the feasibility and desirability of such a goal.

The speech will follow a morning of presentations and discussion on how to tackle the UK's rising transport emissions and accelerate the transition towards a net zero emission transport system.

The wide-ranging debate will feature contributions from a host of leading executives, including James Beard, campaign manager at the EV100 group, Angie Boakes, general manager for electric mobility at Shell, Sam Clarke, founder of electric delivery specialist Gnewt, and Claire Haigh, chief executive at campaign group Greener Journeys.

In addition to exploring the route map for decarbonising road transport, the conference will explore how to tackle emissions from hard to decarbonise transport sectors, such as aviation and shipping, with contributions from Matthew Gorman, director of sustainability at Heathrow and Dr Tristan Smith, reader in energy and shipping at UCL.

And we will explore how to tackle emissions from logistics, with Global Action Plan and Tesco discussing their work to deliver on the new Clean Van Commitment initiative.

"Decarbonising transport is one of the biggest challenges facing the net zero transition, but it is also an area where businesses have a crucial role to play, as well as the opportunity to unlock massive cost savings and reputational and health benefits," said BusinessGreen editor-in-chief James Murray. "Our Towards Net Zero Transport briefing will offer a must-attend guide to the latest thinking on this most important of issues."

The Early Bird Rate for the event is available until 5pm on February 22, so book now to avoid disappointment.

Alternatively, you can secure your pass for all of our quarterly Towards Net Zero BusinessGreen Leaders Briefings, and much more besides, by taking out a BusinessGreen Leaders Subscription.
