As the BusinessGreen Leaders' Awards 2019 drew to a close last night, green business figures, politicians, NGOs and campaigners drank a toast to mark the official passing into statute of the UK's 2050 net zero greenhouse gas emissions target.

But, as the evening demonstrated, the UK's adoption of a world-leading climate change law was far from the only reason for the green economy to celebrate.

With 25 winners and 34 highly commended from 350 entries, the awards were more competitive than ever, providing ample evidence of tireless work taking place in a sector that continues to go from strenght to strength. And the dancing wasn't too bad either, of course.
