This includes enabling electric vehicles to connect to the electricity network intelligently and cost-effectively.

UK Power Networks is working with London mayor Sadiq Khan, the City of London and the 32 London boroughs as well as taxi, bus and fleet operators to support the electrification of transport and improve London's air quality.

Working in collaboration with chargepoint operators, energy suppliers, vehicle manufacturers, academics and trade bodies, UK Power Networks is developing innovation projects to provide a solution to the challenges facing our transport system.

The company plans to invest more than £600m a year in its network, and spend over £6.6bn over eight years to 2023 to maintain a safe and reliable electricity supply.

UK Power Networks is the first electricity distributor to be named in the Sunday Times' Top 25 Best Companies to Work For, and made industry history by becoming first company to win Utility of the Year two years running (2015 and 2016, also 2012).
