Save the date: Join us on 27 November to celebrate the most exciting and inspiring developments in UK clean tech

BusinessGreen is today announcing the upcoming launch of the inaugural BusinessGreen Technology Awards, offering the UK's burgeoning clean tech community the opportunity to celebrate the products and technologies that promise to transform the green economy.

The awards ceremony and celebratory lunch will take place in London on Friday 27 November at 12:30pm and will bring together the best and the brightest from across the clean tech community, providing a unique platform to promote some of the country's most exciting green technologies.

"Political and business leaders of all shades, from climate 'lukewarmers' and oil barons to eco-warriors and multinational CEOs are united in agreeing climate change and other environmental crises can only be tackled through the emergence of ever more compelling clean technologies," said BusinessGreen editor James Murray. "But all too often clean tech developments lack the profile of similar breakthroughs in the pharmaceutical, IT, and transport sectors. The BusinessGreen Technology Awards aims to help put that right."

The awards will officially launch next week, when clean tech firms with a presence in the UK will be invited to submit their entries for the awards in either text, video or infographic format by 2 October.

The categories cover every facet of the clean tech sector, including App of the Year, Building Technology of the Year, Solar Innovation of the Year, Smart City Technology of the Year, and Breakthrough of the Year. The winners and highly commended entries will be selected by our expert panel of independent judges, while a special Consumer Gadget of the Year award will be voted for by BusinessGreen readers.

"We want to celebrate and promote the very best in British clean tech," said Murray. "The awards will complement our BusinessGreen Leaders Awards, which celebrate the best in green business innovation and sustainability initiatives, and are now firmly established as the UK's largest and most prestigious green business awards. Now we want to demonstrate that the technologies that can deliver a truly green economy are ready to roll."

Full details on how to enter the awards, the criteria for each category, the venue for the awards lunch, and how to attend the exclusive awards ceremony will be announced next week.
