A one-sided view
You might balance this view with a look at the amount of consented capacity that is 'stuck' in the system. There is a suspicion that many speculative wind developers are stockpiling consents as long as they can they due to the current economic climate. Nor does installed headline capacity give the whole picture and, with planning refusals, is used by the wind industry to give a wholly inaccurate picture of the situation. For a different view using DECC's RESTATS figures, see: http://www.windbyte.co.uk/index.html#targets When capacity that is under construction, not connected, or consented but yet to be built, is taken into consideration, some regions have already exceeded notional 2020 targets.
