UK waste and recycling specialist New Earth Solutions Group (NES) will today announce it is to team up with investment firm the Eclipse Investment Fund to launch a new fund designed to support its expansion plans.

The New Earth Sub-Fund will be open to investors with a minimum investment of £250,000 and will invest directly in new NES waste management and recycling facilities.

The company currently has two 50,000-tonne waste facilities operating in Dorset and Kent and recently acquired a composting facility in Gloucestershire. It specialises in providing enclosed composting and biological treatment of organic waste that prevents the release of odours and pollutants, as well as recycling of plastics, glass, metals and other materials.

NES is looking to expand to serve the growing market of local authorities that have to reduce the amount of waste they send to landfill in order to avoid potential EU fines. It has been granted planning permission to build a new plant in Avonmouth, Bristol, and expects to begin construction of a new plant in Lutterworth, Leicestershire soon.

The company is also planning to build a number of waste-to-energy plants through its sister company New Earth Energy, and recently secured planning consent for its first plant in Merseyside.

Adrian Jones, finance director at NES, said the money raised through the fund would invest directly in this "substantial pipeline of projects". He added that the company was confident that the fund would be able to attract investors, arguing that it was being launched "in response to demand from institutional investors keen to build their exposure to the waste and renewable energy sectors ".
