Offsetting specialist The CarbonNeutral Company today officially opened its new office in Singapore as it seeks to tap into growing business interest in environmental issues across the Asia-Pacific region.
The company, which is based in London and has offices in New York and San Francisco, also announced its first clients in the region – the American Chamber of Commerce of Singapore (AMCHAM) and the Sustainable Energy Association of Singapore (SEAS).
Jonathan Shopley, executive director of The CarbonNeutral Company, said that the new office would work to support both new customers and existing global clients with a presence in the region.
He added that the company expected to see strong demand from Asia-Pacific over the coming years. "It is more crucial than ever for businesses to implement carbon management strategies that maximise efficiency and minimise emissions – not only to benefit the climate, but for the balance sheet and for reputation," he said.
Shopley's comments were echoed by Rani Virdee, the newly appointed managing director of the CarbonNeutral Company's Singapore office, who said there was evidence that Asian companies' environmental strategies were maturing fast.
"Carbon management is a significant issue to Asia-Pacific because environmental credentials are becoming a higher priority for leading companies in the region," she said.
