The fourth annual Corporate Climate Response – London event takes an in-depth look at two of the most pressing topics in climate response - the UK's new mandatory carbon trading system and climate change's impact on the food sector - and BusinessGreen.com readers can get 15 per cent off the entry fee.

Opening on May 20th Phil Woolas, Minister for the Environment, will provide the keynote address at the two day event, discussing how the upcoming Carbon Reduction Commitment (CRC) will impact businesses operating in the UK.

The Carbon Reduction Commitment (CRC) is the UK's new mandatory carbon trading scheme targeting emissions from around 5,000 large business and public sector organisations.

2008 is the qualifying year for CRC participants with electricity consumption through mandatory meters determining participation.

The Defra-supported conference will bring together companies, the Government, energy providers and carbon market experts to discuss how this new scheme will impact businesses.

The second day of the conference will focus on climate change and the food industry, examining carbon reduction and climate impact at every stage of the food supply chain from agriculture through to waste.

Representatives from Defra, Tesco, BSkyB, B&Q, Marks and Spencer, The Co-Operative Group, Barclays, Cable & Wireless, Land Securities, Cadbury Schweppes, BAA, Cisco, Imperial Tobacco, McCain’s and Nestlé are among those confirmed to speak at Corporate Climate Response – London.
