Two weeks left to submit entries for the annual BusinessGreen Technology Awards

Sir John Armitt, chair of the National Infrastructure Commission, has been confirmed as the keynote speaker at the inaugural BusinessGreen Technology Festival and Awards on December 5th.

The former chair of the Olympic Delivery Authority will return to the Olympic Park, home of the Plexal Here East conference venue and innovation centre, which will host the Festival and Awards.

As chair of the National Infrastructure Commission and a former rail and engineering industry boss, Sir John Armitt has emerged as one of the UK's leading advocates for the rapid adoption of clean technologies and infrastructure as key to the country's net zero transition. He will open the Festival with a speech on how green technology innovation and engineering excellence can deliver a step change in the UK's decarbonisation rates, bolstering competitiveness and re-shaping the 21st century in the process.

The news comes just two weeks ahead of the September 27th deadline to enter this year's BusinessGreen Technology Awards. Now in their fifth year the awards offer a unique opportunity for companies from across the burgeoning green technology sector to showcase their cutting edge projects and innovations.

The awards ceremony will take place at the close of the day-long BusinessGreen Technology Festival, providing shortlisted firms with a unique opportunity to hear from agenda-setting speakers, network with top investors and prospective partners, and potentially present their technology through the BusinessGreen Technology Challenge.

"We are delighted to welcome Sir John Armitt to the BusinessGreen Technology Festival and Awards," said BusinessGreen editor-in-chief James Murray. "He brings a unique economy-wide perspective to the huge opportunities on offer for the green technology sector and years of experiencing challenging and overcoming the barriers new technologies face."

Armitt joins a line-up of speakers from across the green economy as part of an agenda designed to provide clean tech providers, blue chips customers, and investors with a range of insights into how to accelerate the roll out of green technologies and maximise the opportunities they offer. From developing effective marketing strategies and managing pilot deployments to securing finance and navigating the policy environment, the Festival will provide stakeholders from right across the green economy with invaluable information on how to help drive clean technology into the mainstream.

The Festival also features the BusinessGreen Technology Challenge, which will see some of the companies shortlisted for this year's awards present their innovations to our audience of prospective customers, partners, and investors.

Murray urged green technology providers to get their entries in for this year's awards ahead of the end of September deadline. "The BusinessGreen Technology Awards are now in their fifth year and they are always a fantastic event that helps some of the UK's most exciting companies raise their profile and highlight their cutting-edge innovations."

Tickets for the BusinessGreen Technology Festival and Awards are on sale now and are priced from just £99.
