Join us in celebrating the most exciting and inspiring developments in UK clean tech
BusinessGreen is today announcing the launch of the inaugural BusinessGreen Technology Awards, offering the UK's burgeoning clean tech community the opportunity to celebrate the products and technologies that promise to transform the green economy.
The awards will take place at a glamorous secret London location on the afternoon of Friday November 27th, bringing together the best and the brightest from across the clean tech community, providing a unique platform to promote some of the country's most exciting green technologies.
"For too long the clean tech sector has hid its light under the proverbial bushel, allowing peers in other industries to command the headlines with breakthroughs struggle to match the significance of some of the clean tech developments that are now occuring," said BusinessGreen editor James Murray. "The BusinessGreen Technology Awards aims to give the UK's top clean tech players the platform they deserve to promote the cutting edge work they are undertaking."
Clean tech firms with a presence in the UK are invited to submit their entries for the awards in either text, video or infographic format by October 2nd.
The awards are free to enter, but short listed firms are required to purchase at least two tickets to the inaugural BusinessGreen Technology Awards lunch. As well as entry to the awards, the ticket package includes a certificate for all shortlisted entries and the right to use the BusinessGreen Technology Awards logo in marketing material. In addition, each of the winners will be profiled on BusinessGreen.
The categories cover every facet of the clean tech sector, including App of the Year, Building Technology of the Year, Solar Innovation of the Year, Smart City Technology of the Year, and Breakthrough of the Year. The winners and highly commended entries will be selected by our expert panel of independent judges, while a special Consumer Gadget of the Year award will be voted on by BusinessGreen readers.
"We want to celebrate and promote the very best in British clean tech," said Murray. "The awards will complement our BusinessGreen Leaders Awards, which celebrate the best in green business innovation and sustainability initiatives, and are now firmly established as the UK's largest and most prestigious green business awards. Now we want to demonstrate that the technologies that can deliver a truly green economy are ready to roll."
The launch of the awards was welcomed by Guy Pattison, co-founder of the Clean and Cool Mission, which promotes UK clean tech firms overseas and is a launch partner for the BusinessGreen Technology Awards. "It's hugely important to recognise and celebrate the UK's entrepreneurial technologists, engineers and scientists for the heroes they are," he said. "These men and women are creating wealth, inspiring others and leading an industry that is hugely valuable to UK economy."
