Join us for the green economy's most prestigious awards night on July 6th, 2016

Green businesses and executives from across the UK are being invited to put themselves forward for the BusinessGreen Leaders Awards 2016, the annual celebration of the innovative and inspiring leadership demonstrated by the green economy.

On the evening of July 6th, the awards will see over 600 green business executives, entrepreneurs, investors and policy makers gather at The Brewery in the City of London to recognise those organisations, projects, and individuals that best embody the sustainable thinking and execution required to deliver genuinely green infrastructure and business models.

This year the awards will be bigger than ever with 24 awards, including four new categories.

In recognition of the growing importance of 'hard' and 'soft' infrastructure in delivering the low carbon economy we are introducing a Green Infrastructure Project of the Year and an Ecosystem Project of the Year, to recognise the exciting work going on in these increasingly important fields.

Meanwhile, with resource efficiency initiatives extending far beyond waste management projects we are introducing a Circular Economy Project of the Year to go alongside our popular Waste and Recycling Project of the Year. Finally, the march of more sustainable manufacturing processes is recognised with our new Manufacturer of the Year Award.

Entries are also sought for all the BusinessGreen Leaders Awards annual gongs, including our coveted Company of the Year, Leader of the Year, and Sustainability Executive of the Year awards, as well as the always competitive Renewable Energy Project of the Year and Small Business Project of the Year titles.

You can start your entries now on the BusinessGreen Leaders Awards 2016 website.

Businesses, NGOs, and individuals now have until Monday 21st of March at 5pm to submit their entries.

"In the wake of the historic Paris Agreement and the international commitment to delivering a net zero emission economy, the onus on businesses to showcase how a low carbon transition can be delivered has never been greater," said BusinessGreen editor-in-chief James Murray. "The theme of the awards this year is making the Paris Agreement a reality.

"That is not to say we only want entries from those working on climate change solutions, far from it. But we do want to hear from those businesses, NGOs, and executives who are working, day in, day out, to turn global sustainability pledges into an economic and commercially-viable reality."

Murray urged businesses from across the green economy with a presence in the UK to take advantage of the opportunities offered by the UK's largest green business awards. "Now in the sixth year, the BusinessGreen Leaders Awards are now a well-established forum for celebrating the success of your green initiatives and investments," he said. "We know from past experience the companies nominated for these awards represent the very best in green business thinking and the platform provided for the winners serves to demonstrate how green businesses are more competitive than ever."

As in previous years, the BusinessGreen Leaders Awards are free to enter. However, BusinessGreen does require all shortlisted entries to purchase a minimum of two tickets to attend the glamorous black tie awards ceremony. Attendees will enjoy a networking drinks reception, three course meal, and a glittering awards ceremony, while all finalists and highly commended entries will receive a certificate to mark their achievement at the BusinessGreen Leaders Awards.

The short list will be announced on Monday April 11th and successful applicants will have until June 7th to confirm their attendance at the awards on July 6th.

The BusinessGreen Leaders Awards will be judged by our panel of esteemed judges, including experts from across the green economy and previous winners of the BusinessGreen Leaders Awards. As in previous years, the panel will be split into two judging sessions in order to avoid any conflicts of interest among the judges.
