DirectX forms the basis of the multimedia element of the Windows operating system. Without it you are missing out on some quality features, including rich graphics and enhanced audio.
Most big commercial games use DirectX so, if you want the best experience, get this update.
This version features minor improvements, including updated graphics, faster frame rates, multiplayer support and immersive audio, among others.
Note: This version is for Windows 98/ME only. Owners of all other versions of Windows should download DirectX 9.
